The destroyer "Buynyy" was laid down in 1899 at the shipyard of the Nevsky Shipbuilding and Engineering Plant in St. Petersburg. As a basis the project of the company Yarrow was taken. It was set afloat on 4 August 1901. In the time of the Battle of Tsushima on 14 May 1905 the "Buynyy" was part of the 1-st Section of Destroyers and held to the port side, a non-shooting side, of the Russian battleships, being under the order of following the battleship "Oslyabya". As soon as the "Oslyabya" began to go down, the destroyer approached the sinking ship at full speed and began to save under fire the crew floating in the water. Altogether 204 men were taken on board by the "Buynyy", and after that it got under fire of the Japanese cruisers and had to cease the rescue of the crew of the battleship. After the return to the squadron the crew of the "Buynyy" noticed a burning Russian ship, which was strongly fired by the enemy. It turned out to be the flag battleship "Knyaz Suvorov". Under the enemy’s fire the "Buynyy" approached on heavy swell to the weatherboard of the battleship. Every minute the fragile hull of the destroyer could have been crushed against the armour of the "Knyaz Suvorov". According to witnesses, this foolhardy maneuver brought immortal glory to the "Buynyy" and its captain. The design has a good level of detailed drafting. The graphical assembly schemes are very clear and understandable. We recommend it mainly to experienced modelers.
